Course on Enedned Value Management for performance control - 4 ore

A specialist course to master the EVM methodology and improve integrated time control, Costs and performances in real projects

This course was born from the experience gained in the field in the application of the EURED Value Management (EVM) in real contexts. It is designed for those who want to acquire operational tools and apply EVM systematically within the project control process.

From theory to practice: applies EVM in real projects for integrated and predictive control.

🌍 Context and prospects

This course to master the EVM methodology was born from the experience gained in real and complex contexts. More and more companies, especially in the sectors with a strong technical and contractual complexity, recognize the need for advanced and integrated project of projects. This applies to both the clients, who must effectively monitor their investments, both for contractors, who need structured and proactive planning and control.

In articulated scenarios and highly critical projects, The simple final analysis is no longer enough: In addition to being often misleading, does not allow to anticipate deviations or to plan timely corrective actions. Predictive indicators are needed, objective metrics and an integrated vision of times, Costs and performances.

L’Earned Value Management (EVM), if applied correctly, Allows this: transform the raw project data into information really useful for the decision -making process. However, The operational adoption of the AVM is still limited, also due to poor practical training.

👉 In this blog article I deepen the concrete application of the EVM methodology.

📊 Why participate

Despite its recognized effectiveness, La Metodology Earned Value Management (EVM) It is still little used correctly and systematicly in real projects. This course was born to fill this gap, offering an operational and concrete guide to apply the EVM in professional contexts and train professionals able to really use it in real projects.

It is the ideal course for those who want to understand not only the functioning of the EVM indicators, but also How to interpret them correctly and integrate them into the project control process. The course includes examples, real cases and practical suggestions for those who have to measure costs, times and performances in a truly effective way.

👤 Why follow this course with me?

I started applying the EVM methodology already in 1994, adapting it on site to monitor the productivity of the workforce. In the 2004 I kept one of the first presentations on the topic of the PMI Rome Chapter, contributing to the spread of the approach also in Italy. In the 2006 I designed and developed a software (called Chapter) EVM connected to Primavera and integrated with ERP systems, used in a public infrastructure project.

This course was born from these experiences: It is designed for those who really want to use the EVM, not only understand it, and integrate it into the project control process.

Description

The course provides a clear and in -depth understanding of the ENED Value Management method (EVM), illustrating the logic at the basis of the integrated measurement of times, costs and physical advancement; but not only.
The project control process and the cost control process is also illustrated, allowing you to acquire full mastery of the different economic parameters e, in particular, to understand how to calculate the value ofActual Cost, which incorporates all costs incurred.

Basically, This course offers not only the opportunity to acquire the EVM technique, but also to improve the knowledge of the Structuring of the project budget and of the Cost Control process and the parameters that govern him.

Through a synthetic but complete path, The participant learns:

  • The foundations of the Project Control process;
  • how the project budget is structured;
  • What are the costs control parameters and what elements contribute to the value of the final costs (Actual Cost);
  • The main concepts behind the AVM: PV (Planned Value), EV (Earned Value) e and (Actual Cost);
  • the calculation of performance indicators (CPI, SPI, EAC, ETC) and their meaning;
  • The conditions necessary to correctly apply the EVM and the main critical issues to be avoided;
  • The integration of the AVM with the CPM program and the overall project control system.

The structure of the course is designed for those who want to apply as much as learned immediately, even in the absence of advanced software.

The lessons, tratte dal Master in Project Management e Control, are completed by explanatory examples and useful tools for operational implementation.

Training objectives

At the end of the course, Participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the Project Control process and the principles underlying the management of baseline.
  2. Apply advanced techniques to measure physical progress, cheap and temporal.
  3. Analyze and correctly interpret the main cost control parameters: AC, ETC, EAC, OUR.
  4. Implementare la metodologia Earned Value Management (EVM) for integrated time monitoring, costs and physical advancement.
  5. Integrate EVM indicators into the decision -making process of project control.

Structure

The course has an overall duration of 4 hours and is divided into 4 Main lessons, tratte dal Master “Project Management e Control”. Lessons follow a logical and progressive order, allowing to understand both the foundations of the AVM and the cost control techniques and.

Each module includes:

  • Theoretical explanations with clear and accessible language,
  • Practical examples of calculation and interpretation of the indicators,
  • Operational tools and advice for implementation.

Course program

The course develops in Four lessons Taken from the "Project Management and Control" Master and presents a logical and progressive path that connects the control of physical and economic advance to the ENED Value Management methodology:

Lesson 1 - Introduction to the Project Control process
Comparison between current and baseline plane. Definition of control objectives, involvement of stakeholders, Update and consolidation of the baseline.

Lesson 2 - Advancement control techniques
Techniques of measuring physical advancement, cheap and temporal. Measurement algorithms, milestone, Estimation to finish, Piani update, recovery plans.

Lesson 3 - Cost control techniques and parameters
Analysis of the economic data of the project: AC (Actual Cost), ETC (Estimate to Complete), EAC (Estimate at Completion), OUR (Variance). Operational use of cost indicators in the control process.

Lesson 4 – Earned Value Management – Principi, Metrics and advanced implementation
Fundamentals of AVM: PV, EV, AC. CPI performance indicators, SPI. Relationship with the CPM program. Operational implementation in real projects.

In -depth readings

  1. The cost-therapy report vs productivity for estimate etc
  2. The history of Enedned Value: From the origins to the EVMS framework + Complete exercise of application of the Enedned Value technique on a realistic case.

Recipients

The goal of this Specialized course to master the EVM methodology It is to provide operational skills immediately applicable also in contexts without dedicated software. It is designed for professionals and technicians who want to acquire advanced skills in the measurement of project performance and in the concrete application of the ENED Value methodology, integrated with a rigorous budget process and cost control:

  • Project Manager, Planner, Controller who want to integrate Evm into the control processes.
  • Technical managers of complex orders, In the engineering area, Construction and plant engineering.
  • Professionals with experience in cost planning and management, interested in enhancing the monitoring of physical and economic advancement.
  • Recent graduates and young technicians who want to enrich their profile with distinctive and immediately applicable skills.

Read the review As a professional with years of experience on international projects, I can say that this course touches an often underestimated point, but crucial: the integration of costs, times and performances within a coherent control system.

Too often, in the world of design (and in particular in architecture), We are taught to create without constraints, But in working reality, those who draw ends up being excluded from cost dynamics, delivery e performance. This course fills exactly that void.

The material is clear, well structured and includes practical examples and useful exercises to internalize concepts. The presence of slides and extra content that help to return to the salient points are also appreciable.

What do I bring me home:
1. Concrete and well explained approach
2. Excellent balance between theory and operational tools
3. Content enhanced also for those who already have experience on the field

The EVM course is an investment that I recommend to anyone who wants to acquire a more complete vision of the project management. For me it was a nice reminder of how essential it is to measure before correcting.

Read the review I decided to follow the course in order to strengthen knowledge of the AVM methodology with a view to acquiring the PMP certification.

The course clearly expresses the methods of application of the method, but above all the meaning it represents in function of a correct monitoring of the advancement of the project.

I have several years of experience in managing infrastructure projects nationally, from which I acquired the awareness that the VM methodology is unknown to most professionals in the sector. For this reason, a correct application, perhaps regulated by the contract code, of this tool, it can help reduce waste that very often are generated in the construction sector, mainly due to a programming very distant from the reality of the construction site.
